Refurbishment of the Roman Bridge in Lugo
Its refurbishment was undertaken following the project of Civil Engineer Manuel Durán Fuentes, specialized in Roman Bridges. Among the actions carried out, the following are noteworthy: the elimination of the metal structure of the sideways which supported on the buttresses of the cutwaters; the building of a provisional cofferdam to deviate the course of Miño River, exposing the original manufacturing of the bridge and proceeding to strengthen the foundations of columns 1, 2 and 3 (the only ones preserving the Roman ashlars walls); the cleaning of all the walls and the emptying of the board to introduce new utilities channels and to rectify the longitudinal slope, in such a way that the bridge will recover the warped profile it originally had, before the intervention of Godofredo A. Cascos in 1893. Contracting Entities: Ministerio de Fomento and Concello de Lugo.
