Renovation and improvement of several sections of the Way of Saint James
Misturas has been awarded a contract by the Galician Tourism Agency, an agency under the regional administration, to undertake the renovation, signposting and improvement of several sections of the Northern Way of Saint James, specifically those known as the ‘Coastal Route’ and the ‘Interior Route- Primitive Way or from Oviedo’.
The improvement of the roads and drainage in different sections of the route, as well as the signposting and adaptation to the official delimitation of the ways, highlight among the actions carried out by Misturas.
The action takes place on the remains of the ‘Northern Way’, which is considered to be a Cultural Heritage Site as a historical ensemble. This route crosses the Cantabrian coast from Irún to Santiago and, in Asturias, it is divided into two branches: the Primitive Way and the Coastal Route. The passing points are Ribadeo, Barreiros, Lourenzá, Mondoñedo, Abadín, Vilalba, Guitiriz, Begonte, Friol, Sobrado, Boimorto, Arzúa, O Pino and Santiago de Compostela.
Throughout the journey, the old signposts with the kilometer points are replaced by others that indicate the correct distance and the spare signs and items in bad conditions are removed. In addition, Misturas is responsible for the cleaning of ditches and slopes and the improvement of the roads, as well as of the clearing to recover ancient routes.
