New pilgrims’ hostel in the historic district of Vigo (Pontevedra)
Misturas has completed the works of the new building that will act as a pilgrims’ hostel in the Casco Vello of Vigo. The works involved the complete renovation of two rundown historic buildings located in the fishermen’s quarter, O Berbés: the original stone arcades and facades were preserved, and new floors were added, using the difference in height between the street Ribeira do Berbés nº5 and Praza Peñasco nº9. The result of the works is a new building, accessible from the two locations, that completely blends in with the urban design and preserves the traditional architecture of the area.
The new hostel, built for the Tourism Agency of Galicia, has a capacity of 93 people and has been especially designed to meet the needs of the pilgrims of the Portuguese Way to Santiago de Compostela.
