Misturas renovates Teis’ fire station in Vigo and improves its energy efficiency
Making Teis’ Fire Station, in Vigo, as self-sufficient as possible in terms of energy consumption is one of the main objectives of the remodeling works that are being finalized by Misturas. The project included a solar power generation facility for sanitary hot water and geothermal systems to support the building’s pre-existing oil central heating system. These two changes will imply significant economic savings, a fact highlighted by the Mayor of Vigo, Abel Caballero, in a recent verification visit to the site (see picture).
The works, awarded to Misturas by the Council of Vigo, consisted of the overall renovation of the foundations of the building and truck traffic area, installing an exit gate for each of them, so that several vehicles can depart simultaneously to respond to emergencies without maneuvering. Besides, the habitability of the building was improved, creating new spaces for the staff.
The renovation of the fire station will be completed with other modifications on the outside of the building, where the visible concrete will be covered with a ventilated metal façade
