Misturas completes the EMULCELL project with the construction of a test-prototype section that includes experimental asphalt
On 31/12/2020, Misturas completed EMULCELL’s R&D project, undertaken by the company with the support of the Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology (CDTI), a body under the Ministry of Science and Innovation (Ref. IDI-20171097). During the last trimester of 2020, the test section planned in the project was built in the Industrial Park of Chorente, in Allariz (Ourense). A new type of cold bituminous mixture was used for the base layer: particularly, an experimental grave-emulsion that includes nanocellulose in its composition. The pictures illustrate different moments of the construction process of the prototype.
The following have participated in the design of the new cold mixture, the main objective of the project, as subcontracting parties of Misturas: the Group of Roads, Geotechnics and Materials of the Higher Technical School of Civil Engineers of the University of A Coruña (UDC) and the Multidisciplinary Research Technological Center (CETIM).
The EMULCELL project was developed by Misturas between July 2017 and December 2020, with a budget of €568,912. The CDTI has participated in the funding, providing €425,375.50. Its completion was initially planned for March 2020, but the lockdown due to the COVID pandemic allowed for an execution extension by the CDTI until December of this year.
