The Minister of Public Works, Ana Pastor, attended the inauguration of the renovation works of as well as the reinforced concrete flagstones and the preexisting paving, which was replaced with slate. New stone parapets were also built and the slope was modified, achieving the sagging aspect that makes the bridge look much more like the original Roman design, than to the one obtained in the restoration carried out in 1893.
Likewise, this work enabled Misturas to use a state-of-the-art prototype of 3-D scanner laser to document, with full precision, the entire infrastructure, including ashlars and the laying foundations of the basins, bed of River Miño had to be diverted during the execution process. The works permitted to test the scope and precision of the equipment of the so-called Sitegi Project, an initiative promoted by the University of Vigo and Misturas, together with a group of Galician companies, with the aim of improving the inspection of infrastructures.
The inauguration event, held on 19th October, was attended by the Minister, the mayor of the city, José López Orozco; the Government’s representative in Galicia, Samuel Juárez; the regional minister of the Environment, Territory and Infrastructures, Agustín Hernández; and the president of the Provincial Council of Lugo, José Ramón Gómez Besteiro. Ana Pastor highlighted that the works not only permitted to recover the great value of the historic and artistic heritage of Lugo, but also to renovate the water supply channels and carry out a notable environmental action to recover the banks of River Miño.
